Magic happened this past Friday night at Tree House Point. Sitting in a warmly lit room while listening to the words of songwriting master Jonathan Byrd accompanied by the sweet vocals and fiddle of Chris Kokesh made for a great escape from the pouring rain. Soulful folk stories were woven into songs and played out to perfection amongst the tree houses. Byrd’s The Law and the Lonesome, Father’s Day and Kokesh’s song Lucy moved me to tears while Chicken Wire by Byrd had us singing and stomping. Thanks to the setting I left feeling blessed by the stirring folk music of Byrd and Kokesh.
